Winter Date Night in Cincy
When the weather becomes too cold for picnics and most outdoor recreational activities, it can be easy to fall into a dating slump of either staying in or going on the classic date – dinner and a movie. While these dates are fun from time to time (they are popular for a reason, after all), why limit yourself to them just because it’s winter? Especially when Cincinnati has so many fabulous dates that you can only do in the winter.
Ice Skating
Ice skating is perhaps the most iconic winter date, however many people are reluctant to try it if they cannot skate like Michelle Kwan. Holding your partner’s hand and laughing as you try to maneuver around the rink without falling can be a very fun and memorable experience. If you’re ready to give it a chance, head to Fountain Square Ice Rink on Vine Street. After skating, you can sit together and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate.
Hockey Game
If you still prefer to watch others skate on the ice while you observe, you might enjoy taking your date to a Cincinnati Cyclones game at U.S. Bank Arena. Though perhaps not as popular in America as football or baseball, hockey is a favorite winter pastime of many. Once you arrive, you will find yourself caught up in the action and cheering the Cyclones on. In order to preserve the ice, temperatures in the Arena are quite chilly. Bring a blanket big enough for two and use the chance to cuddle up to your sweetheart. You can view upcoming games and purchase tickets at the Cincinnati Cyclones website, www.cycloneshockey.com.
Holiday Performance
If you and your date want to witness a live performance of a holiday classic, the Cincinnati Civic Ballet will be presenting The Nutcracker at the Aronoff Center from December 20 to 29. This year the Cincinnati Civic Ballet is celebrating its 50th anniversary as one of the preeminent regional ballet companies in the United States. The music for The Nutcracker was originally composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky and will be performed by the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Carmon DeLeone. Victoria Morgan choreographed the dances for this rendition of the holiday classic ballet. Tickets are on sale at the Cincinnati Civic Ballet website, www.cballet.org.

What could be more romantic than a ride through the snowy city than a cozy, intimate ride in a luxury limousine?
