7 Ridiculous Ways to Ask Your Date to Prom

How to Score A Date for the Prom

Cincinnati car serviceAh, prom. The stuff teen flicks are made of. Maybe yours won’t have choreographed dance numbers like She’s All That did or take place in such a beautiful event space like the one in Ten Things I Hate About You. But there are small ways to make your night as memorable as you can, such as booking Cincinnati car service, or choosing a really delicious restaurant. However, before you do any of that, you need to decide who you’ll ask and how. If you don’t want to go the usual route of flat-out asking your friend or maybe-more-than-friend, try some of these creative ways to ask your potential date to the prom. Some are so ridiculous, one of them is bound to work.

1.) Prom Pancakes

Who doesn’t like pancakes? If you’re really skilled at pouring the batter, you could try making your friend or romantic interest some pancakes shaped into the letters forming the word “prom.” Stack them on top of each other and bring them over to his or her house—it doesn’t have to be around breakfast time. Or, if pouring the batter turns out to be too tricky, you could simply pour syrup in the shape of the word “prom” on top.

2.) Itemize Your Question

You could leave an item and a note in their locker that lets the person know you think they’re really special. Leave a rock and a note that says “You rock. Can we go to prom together?” Or snatch the cheese grater from your kitchen and let them know you think they’re “grate.”

3.) Write Something Meaningful

You could write your potential date a poem. Something along the lines of “Roses are red/Violets are blue/Prom would be awesome/Especially with You.” That may sound cheesy to read, but think about how you would feel if you were on the receiving end of that note. Wouldn’t you find it just a little charming?

4.) Make It a Mystery

If you’re asking someone you know fairly well (who wouldn’t mind you opening their locker or using their textbook), snatch one of their books and leave a note instructing them to turn to a particular page. On that page, write, “To find out why I’m doing this, turn to page X.” Continue doing this with other pages until you reach what you feel is a good place to end the mystery. Write the question, “Will you go to prom with me?” on the last page you direct them to. If anything, it will keep them entertained during a boring lecture.

5.)  Channel Your Inner Ryan Gosling

Gentlemen, if you know she’s well familiar with the Ryan Gosling meme, you could place a photo of yourself in her locker with some text overlaid that reads, “Hey girl, my prom night would be so much better if you were there with me.” Or if she really loves Ryan Gosling, you could use a Ryan Gosling photo—“Hey girl, Ryan Gosling approves of this message: Will you be my prom date?”

6.) Be Their Valentine

Though we’re three weeks past Valentine’s Day, some stores may still have Valentine’s Day cards or candy on sale. If you know now who you’d like to ask, take a look at the store clearance shelves and see if you can find a sweet card to give to them. It may be past Valentine’s Day, but who says you can’t express your appreciation for a person after February 14?

7.) Ask Them In a Word Find

If they have the patience for word puzzles, you could ask your potential date via a hidden message in a word find. Use an online puzzle maker like this one to insert your message into the puzzle. For the words they need to search for, try to think of any inside jokes between the two of you or words they would find significant.

You can ask your date to the prom in a fun and memorable way. It just takes some brainstorming and creativity. Taking a unique approach will show your date one thing: You definitely know how to have fun.
