Best Labor Day Weekend Escapes

Take the Family and Get Away this Labor Day!

Cincinnati Weekend GetawaysOne of the last three day weekends us adults are afforded before the holidays is coming up: Labor Day. We don’t get them very often throughout the year and unlike our children we don’t get to take the summer off of our jobs. When an opportunity comes around to take some much needed time away from home and work you should seize it! While there certainly isn’t anything wrong with taking a short “staycation” and not leaving the house all weekend, sometimes a change of scenery is necessary.

When Labor Day rolls around this year, it might be a good idea to have some plans already in place to check out of Cincinnati for a few days. We’ve put together a few options for you and your family to choose from that should appease everyone.

Landoll’s Mohican Castle
561 Township Hwy 3352
Loudonville, OH

If you’ve ever wanted to know what it’s like to live in a castle, take the three hour drive to Landoll’s Mohican Castle in Loudonville, OH. You can stay in one of the 15 unique suites or one of the two guest cottages on the grounds. In addition to the beautiful grounds, there are also horse-drawn carriage and sleigh rides, ghost walks, and outdoor dining so you can enjoy the dwindling summer weather. This castle-themed inn is perfect for couples or families that have a little girl that wants to feel like a princess.

Murphin Ridge Inn
750 Murphin Ridge Rd
West Union, OH

Step back in time with a stay in Ohio’s Amish Country at Murphin Ridge Inn. Located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and only an hour and a half from Cincinnati, you’ll be blown away by the beauty found on the 142 acres of farmland this inn calls home. Relax amongst the stately oak and maple trees with a boxed lunch purchased in the on-site restaurant. You can also doze in a hammock, swim, play tennis, or even get a private massage with your loved one. For souvenirs or additions to your home décor, you can hit up the local Amish stores for quality handcrafted goods.

Kalahari Resorts
7000 Kalahari Drive
Sandusky, OH

At just under four hours north of Cincinnati, Kalahari Resorts may be the furthest option we give you. However, it’s certainly filled with the most activities and fun for the whole family. The kids will have a blast in America’s largest indoor waterpark AND the massive outdoor waterpark while you can enjoy a treatment at the spa. The whole family can go out for a game of mini-golf or test their skills on climbing walls and zip lines at the Safari Outdoor Adventure Park. There is so much to do here that you may want to consider going back for a weeklong vacation during the holidays. The indoor waterpark will be open and provide entertainment even in the colder months.
