The cold dreary winter is finally at a close. The sun is finally peeking out from behind the clouds and every day it’s getting closer and closer to summer. Spring is in the air. Spring is the best time of the year for you and your friends and family to turn off the television, shut down the computer or tablet, and finally step out into the fresh air. Before the summer heat gets to be too much to handle, enjoy the temperate weather while you can. If you live in the Cincinnati area, there are so many fantastic outdoor spring activities waiting for you. All you need to do is get off the couch.
Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden
One of the most popular springtime destinations in cities across America is the local zoo. Cincinnati is no exception. Adults and children alike start flocking to the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden as soon as the weather starts to get warm. Not only is the temperature warmer for you, it is also warmer for the animals, meaning that more of your favorite animals will be outside and ready to be seen when you head to the zoo. Once you have visited all of the animals that you want to see, you can head over to the Botanical Garden to see the gorgeous plants, flowers, trees, and more. A trip to the zoo and botanical garden is perfect for dates and family outings alike.
The Color Ride
For those who enjoy an active lifestyle, spring is a dream season. Hiking and biking enthusiasts take to the trails for fun an excitement. This year, instead of biking on your own, you should participate in one of the many biking events taking place in the Cincinnati area. The Color Ride, for example, is a family oriented biking event in which riders dress in bright fun clothing and ride around the city streets together. It is a slow paced ride, making it accessible for children, but still fun for adults. Breaking out the bicycles is a great way to have fun and get some exercise.
Yellow Springs
Spring is also an excellent time of year to plan a day trip. There are some wonderful small towns located near Cincinnati that are always a pleasure to visit, especially in the springtime. Yellow Springs, Ohio, for example is a popular destination for people in the area. This charming town full of delicious restaurants, wonderful shops, and plenty of nature trails is a wonderful place for you and your loved ones to have mini vacation. They even have plenty of lodging for those who want to extend their day trip for a weekend’s stay.
Picnic in the Park
Lastly, do not underestimate how much fun planning a simple picnic can be. Cincinnati is full of gorgeous little parks both inside and outside the city. Have lunch outside during your work break, or pack up a whole meal for the family on a weekend. Between Eden Park, Smale Riverfront Park, Fernbank Park, and so many more, there are dozens of destinations for you to choose from.
With so many fun activities in Cincinnati this spring, there is no reason for you and your family or friends to be bored. With a little planning, you can find some excellent ways to spend a day in the city. Getting outside to enjoy the fresh spring air is a fantastic way to spend your time. Not only will you have a blast, but you will also come home feeling happy, healthy, and energized.
