How to Celebrate an Unforgettable New Year’s Eve in Cincinnati

Celebrating Cincy’s NYE 2013 New Year's Eve 2013 in Cincinnati

As 2013 is drawing to a close, now is the time to start considering how you will ring in the new year. Many people will spend the holiday sitting on their sofa watching other people celebrate in New York. But why would you want to watch other people have fun when Cincinnati has so many fun events planned for New Years Eve where you can take part in the celebration? Here are just a few of the many New Years Eve events that Cincinnati will host this year.

Riding the River into 2014

Cruise into the new year with BB Riverboats. From 9 pm to 1 am, enjoy floating down the river and admiring the beautiful Cincinnati skyline. Cruisers will dine at a three entrée buffet and a late night snack buffet. At midnight, you will receive a split of champagne as you toast in 2014. You will also enjoy live entertainment, party favors, and free tastings at the “Old Smokey Moonshine” booth. Tickets cost $102 plus tax for adults and $62 plus tax for children. Those traveling from out of town can book a hotel package for an additional charge.

Illuminate the Sky

If you are looking for a great fireworks display in Cincinnati this New Years Eve, you’ll want to head over to Fountain Square at 520 Vine Street. Admission to this event is free for all. The party starts at 8 pm with live music, drinks, and snacks. Enjoy spending time with your friends or family zipping around the free ice skating rink. Starting at 10 pm, Fountain Square will broadcast live coverage of local news and the celebration in New York City. Count down to the new year and enjoy watching the fireworks illuminate the sky over Fountain Square.

Happy Zoo Year

Though it may not be the first place that you think of, the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens hosts their own unique New Years Eve celebration. Happy Zoo Year is perfect for families as well as those who are young at heart. Starting at 5 pm, enjoy many different activities including meet and greets with Father Time and Baby Zoo Year, the Wild Lights Show on Swan Lake, North Polar Express Train Ride, Smores ‘n More, Madcap Black Light Puppet Show, strolling entertainment, various themed areas, and the Winter Wonders show by the Madcap Puppet Theater at 8:30 pm.

To make this event more kid friendly, the big celebration will take place early. At 8:55 pm, countdown and enjoy a magnificent fireworks display by Rozzi Fireworks. For those looking to stay up late, this early finale gives you plenty of time to head to another New Years Eve event to keep the party going. Admission to the zoo is required to attend Happy Zoo Year. It is recommended that you purchase your tickets in advance online at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens website. This will save you time waiting in line and will allow you to save money with the special online price.
