Make Car Service Reservations Now for the Kentucky Derby

The Kentucky Derby is considered to be the greatest two minutes in sports. Kentucky Derby Facts and Tips

A long-standing tradition in Kentucky, this year will be the 140th event favored by men, women, and children alike.

With traditions like the Garland of Roses, Mint Julep, The Twin Spires, and “My Old Kentucky Home,” there is no reason why you shouldn’t participate in this iconic southern event.

Once you’ve made the decision to rub shoulders amongst some of the country’s elite, all that is left to do is make arrangements for the finest transportation to help you make a grand entrance.

Parking and Drop-off Options

The first thing you should know about arriving at the Kentucky Derby is that all the parking at Churchill Downs has been sold in advance.

The parking is completely reserved for the Kentucky Derby weekend, so you should hurry and get your parking pass for the 2014 Kentucky Derby now.

Don’t fret, though, if you aren’t too keen on buying a parking pass for just one day on the Downs.

There are two remote parking locations within a few blocks of the races, and you don’t need any reservations either.

You can park at the Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium for $15 or the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center for just $8.

While these are both within walking distance of Churchill Downs, there will be a round-trip shuttle service starting at 7:30am and running all day until 8:30pm.

Depending on which remote parking location you choose, the price for this service will vary.

Should you be coming in with a large group on a bus or even just in a taxi, the track has developed an entirely new plan for the drop-off and pick-up of patrons attending the Derby.

The bus depot drops passengers off right at the entrance of Gate 1, while the taxi depot is no more than a five minute walk, depending on which gate you’re going through.

Riding in Style

Be honest; you really don’t want to arrive to the Kentucky Derby at the iconic Churchill Downs in a bus, taxi or your own car.

This is a day when the ladies splurge on the statement-making hats that will ensure their picture is displayed in social magazines, a day when the men are dressed to the nines in three-piece suits and a cravat is common.

The Kentucky Derby is an event you want to arrive at in style.

There are so many ways this can be done. It all boils down to the size of your party.

If you are going with a large crowd, there are amazing party buses that can accommodate upwards of 45 people.

Some of these buses come equipped with state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems and even a full bar area.

You and your group would be able to start the festivities before you even arrive at the track.

Seeing as how the Kentucky Derby has been around for so long, one of the most impressive ways to make your entrance would be by chartering a luxury vintage vehicle.

Nothing screams “I belong at the Kentucky Derby” more than stepping out from a meticulously maintained vintage ride while wearing your race day finest.

Although you are there to watch some amazing horse races, the last thing you want to do is arrive on one.

With a social event like the Kentucky Derby, even the smallest details matter, starting with how you arrive at the gates for the big day. Just make sure you are riding in style, and the rest will fall into place!
