What to Expect at Rocktober on the Square 2013

Cincinnati Concert: Rocktober on the Square Rocktober on the Square Cincinnati 2013

There will be music. There will be great beer, wine, and cocktails. Sound like a plan? What if we told you there will be a chance to win Bengals tickets? And what if we told you this will take place not just on one single night, but over the course of four consecutive weeks in October, and right on Fountain Square in the heart of Cincinnati?

The Fountain Square Management Group is proud to present Rocktober on the Square, four Fridays filled with live sounds from the hottest homegrown bands around. Feel free to think of this as your end of the work week happy hour.

Let the burning colors of autumn give way to light shows, let the hickory smell on the chill night blend with the enticing aromas from surrounding restaurants such as Ingredients, Boi Na Brazza, and McCormick and Schmick’s Seafood Restaurant. Everybody gets in on the action in October.

Music

Speaking of action, this year’s musical lineup is sure to please. The month’s tuneful schedule is as follows:

October 4

  • Archer’s Paradox
  • Founding Fathers
  • Decker

October 11

  • The Mitchells
  • Harlequins
  • Ohio Knife

October 18

  • Cinema Sleep
  • Let It Happen
  • BoyMeetsWorld

October 25

  • 500 Mile to Memphis
  • Mike Oberst of the Tillers
  • My Brother The Bear

Every one of these acts is one of Ohio’s own, so come on down and show your support.

Beer

Now, let’s talk about the beer.

A variety of seasonal brews will be featured each week. If it was just Sam Adams Oktoberfest on tap here on the Square, that would be enough. That crisp, toasty aroma is the perfect accompaniment to a fun fall evening. But Goose Island wanted a part of this shindig too, and how could the event organizers possibly say no to their delicious Harvest Ale. There’s also Widmer Brothers OKTO, with that gorgeous amber color and hoppy flavor that’s like a bit of October with every sip. And don’t forget everyone’s favorite go-to brew: Guinness!

In short, this ain’t your grandfather’s month-long music festival. Everybody is gearing up to make October 2013 stand out as the biggest happy hour party to date. That means parking will be a little crazy. Any trip to an event like this is worth having a driver for. A chauffeured vehicle is not only the safest option, but knowing you have a ride for the evening allows you to enjoy the festivities stress-free.

So come on down to the Square. The amps are cranked up and the drinks are ready to flow.
